NEW ORLEANS, LA (October 19, 2012)-Today, Community Works of Louisiana received a Community Partnership Grant from the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation to support our Mardi Gras Indian Puppet Project. These funds will go to bringing the Puppet Project to 160 students in CWLA Programs beginning January 2013 and culminating near Super Sunday.
The students will participate in a number of workshops to create their Mardi Gras Indian Puppets along with presentations from local Mardi Gras Indian groups. The project will culminate in a student walking parade where students will be able to display their puppets engaging parents, teachers, and the community to view the works completed and promote support for future programming.
Community Works of Louisiana would like to thank the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation for the 2012 Community Partnership Grant.
